Display Controls
Display Controls are a set of features in a search system that govern how search results are presented to the user. They are crucial for enhancing user experience by making the search results more intuitive, informative, and easier to navigate.
Default Sort
Default Sort sets the initial order of search results, often based on criteria like relevance, popularity, or newness.
Example: Products in a search might be sorted by new arrivals first, ensuring users see the latest items in the catalog.
Channels
Channels are the distinct interfaces or platforms through which users interact with search results. These can include different applications like a web store, mobile app, or even specific segments like retail and wholesale within those applications.
Example: An online store may use separate channels for its website and mobile app. The web channel could be designed for browsing on larger screens with detailed product information and images, while the mobile app channel might focus on simplified navigation and faster loading times, optimized for users on the go.
Pagination
Pagination determines how search results are divided across pages, including the number of results per page and navigation options.
Example: In a large inventory like books, displaying 20 titles per page with options to navigate to next or specific pages helps in browsing.
Displayable Attributes
This feature allows you to choose which attributes of your data are shown in search results.
Example: In search results for electronic gadgets, attributes like product name, price, specifications, and availability might be displayed.
SKU Bundling
This feature allows you to group the various variants of a product to be displayed as a single listing.
This is particularly useful in e-commerce, where different versions of a product (such as different sizes, colors, or models) can be neatly organized under one main listing. This makes browsing more streamlined for users and can simplify inventory tracking.
Grouping key: It is the specific attribute or set of attributes used to determine how products are grouped together.
Here's an example of how it's used:
Main product: Smartphone Model X
Grouping key attributes: Color (Blue, Black, White, Purple), Storage Capacity (128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB)
Bundling: All the different combinations of color and storage are grouped under the main product listing for Smartphone Model X. The customer can select their preferred color and storage to see the price for that specific combination.
